These reeds are individually hand crafted from carefully selected cane, to support the full range with relative ease of response and a pleasant characteristic sound. The shape is unique, but similar to Herzberg's, with a blade length averaging 27 mm from the shoulder and overall length of around 55 mm. No returns on reeds unless damaged in the mail. Medium soft: The medium soft bassoon reeds are made from Gonzalez tube cane, chosen carefully and hand split. They are hand gouged, profiled, and shaped with Rieger machines. The shape is a Rieger #2. They are wrapped in bright and colorful cotton thread. The final blade length is between 26mm and 27mm from the collar. These reeds play easily and immediately, and have a wonderful warm tone. Medium: The medium bassoon reeds are made from Vandoren tube cane, chosen carefully and hand split. They are hand gouged, profiled, and shaped with Rieger machines. The shape is a Rieger #2. They are wrapped in bright and colorful cotton thread. The final blade length is between 26mm and 27mm from the collar. These reeds will take a little time to break in, but will have longer life and a round, full sound. These reeds are carefully selected for response, good intonation, and an easily produced tone. They are constructed using the Rieger 13 shape and measure approximately 28.5 mm from the top wire. Hand gouged, shaped, profiled, and finished reeds from Gonzalez or Medir tube cane. These reeds are made in a Christlieb shape and hand wrapped with two different colors of cotton thread and natural, locally-sourced beeswax. No two wraps are the same. The shape gives them a beautiful singing quality with a warm, full round sound and even intonation. Medium strength reeds will play right away. Medium hard reeds will need to be broken in a little, but will ultimately last a little longer. No returns or exchanges on reeds. Reeds that break in the mail must be returned within 7 days. Medium: These reeds are made from Rigotti cane and are shaped with a Miller #2 wide shape. These are solid, dependable reeds with a singing tone and quality intonation. Good response and sensitive, these reeds are versatile and offer excellent control. Medium Hard: These reeds are made from Rigotti cane are shaped with a Miller #2 wide shape. They have been proven to be of the highest quality and dependability. They have a sensitive attack and smooth flexibility in all passages, as well as excellent intonation and steady, complex tones. -
These reeds are made with the Herzberg shape. The tip on this shape is slightly narrower than most European shapes which allows for stable intonation throughout the range of the instrument. Additionally, the process of beveling helps with the production of high notes. -
